Focus Group- Masthead Continued

When I recieved the comments from my focus group I went away and found a logo for my newspaper without using my focus group. Whilst looking I found that the Margate Clock Tower was well known in the area and fairly recognisable especially when looking at the area.

I decided to go with this design and incorporate this into my current logo and see what the focus group thought of the logo by presenting them with two options and giving them a chance to give any other guidance on how to improve the logo.

Here are some of the comments my focus group gave to me:

"My personal preference for the masthead of this newspaper would be option 1 as it is simple but effective, and I could 100% see this on the top of a main stream newspaper"

"When looking at the two logos I thought that they were both simplictic and that the text 'Our Thanet' could do with being slightly bigger"

"Option 1 looks so much more aesthetically pleasing and smooth"

Therefore after weighing up the results I have decided to go with option 1 as the focus group preferred this option however 1 or 2 people said they would like to see the text being slightly bigger so it would be the same height as the clocktower itself so I may look into doing this to create my final logo.
