Focus Group - Choosing A Website Layout

Since researching newspaper websites I have decided to use Wix which is a website builder tool online and free to use for anyone. The website features several templates to give a helping hand in the design of the website. Upon narrowing the templates down to 2 which could possibly suit my newspaper website, to help me to decide what website I will choose as my base to create my newspaper on I will approach my focus group.

The Two templates are as below:

Within two days I had recieved 10 replies from my focus group and from analysing the feedback I will choose the second template as 8 out of 10 people agreed with this decision.

Just some of the feedback were as follows:

"From your screenshots of the websites, I prefer the second website as the first website is simple and reminds me more of a magazine than a newspaper"

"The second website jumps out of the screen and if I was oblivious that this is a template I would have thought this was a newspaper website"

"The first website reminds me of the Metro newspaper with the thumbnail layout and for this reason I prefer the first website if the icons could fill the whole screen"
